Information
Brake master cylinder.
The primary hydraulic pressure generator for the braking system - translates your brake pedal input into brake fluid pressure that activates the brake calipers.
Fits:
Porsche 993 C2 1995 - 1998
Diagram ref no 9
When you press the brake pedal, the master cylinder generates hydraulic pressure that is distributed through the brake lines to all four wheels. This pressure forces the brake calipers to clamp the brake pads against the rotors, slowing the vehicle safely and effectively. A properly functioning master cylinder is essential for consistent brake pedal feel, stopping distance, and overall safety.
Function:
• Converts pedal force into hydraulic pressure to actuate the braking system
• Maintains proper fluid pressure to ensure balanced braking front to rear
• Works with the vehicle’s brake lines, reservoir, and calipers to deliver responsive braking performance on demand.
The master cylinder is a critical safety component of your braking system. Over time, seals and internal surfaces can wear or deteriorate, leading to:
• Spongy or inconsistent pedal feel
• Brake fluid leaks or loss of pressure
• Reduced braking performance or uneven stopping
• Potential safety hazards if left unaddressed.
Replacing a worn or failing unit helps restore proper hydraulic pressure, pedal feel, and brake system performance - keeping your Porsche responsive and safe.
Replace the brake master cylinder if you notice:
• Soft, sinking, or inconsistent brake pedal feel
• Visible brake fluid leaks around the master cylinder
• Air entering the brake lines or ineffective braking response
• During a brake system rebuild, fluid flushing, or seal failure diagnostics

Brake Master Cylinder
For cars without stop light switch
Bore size: 19.05mm
Fits:
Porsche 911 T/E/S 2.2L / 2.4L / 2.7L 1969 - 1975
Porsche 914 (914-6 type)
The FTE brake master cylinder is a high-quality replacement hydraulic component for selected Porsche 911 models from 1969 to 1975. Designed to replace Porsche part number 90135501200, it restores correct brake-fluid pressure and dependable braking performance when the original cylinder is worn, leaking or no longer holding pressure internally.
The brake master cylinder converts brake-pedal movement into hydraulic pressure, sending brake fluid through the braking circuits to operate the wheel calipers. Its tandem design uses separate hydraulic circuits, improving system safety and helping maintain partial braking capability if one circuit develops a fault.
Manufactured by FTE, this replacement master cylinder is designed to provide accurate fitment, reliable internal sealing and consistent pedal response. It is suitable for servicing an otherwise standard braking system or completing the restoration of a classic Porsche 911.
What This Part Does
When the brake pedal is pressed, internal pistons move through the master-cylinder bore and force brake fluid into the hydraulic lines. This pressure operates the brake calipers and slows the vehicle.
A correctly functioning master cylinder is essential for:
• Firm and consistent brake-pedal feel
• Reliable hydraulic pressure generation
• Predictable braking response
• Correct operation of both braking circuits
• Secure containment of brake fluid
