The Fabspeed Porsche 991 Turbo / Turbo S Valved Supersport X-Pipe Exhaust System is a high-performance exhaust upgrade designed to deliver enhanced exhaust sound, improved gas flow and driver-controlled exhaust volume for the Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S (991.1), manufactured between 2013 and 2016.
Fits:
- Porsche 991.1 Turbo 3.8L (520 Bhp) 2014-16
- Porsche 991.1 Turbo S 3.8L (560 Bhp) 2014-16
The standard Porsche 991 Turbo exhaust system is engineered to balance performance, emissions and noise regulations. Although effective for everyday driving, its factory mufflers and catalytic converter arrangement can restrict exhaust sound and reduce the audible character of the turbocharged flat-six engine.
Fabspeed developed the Valved Supersport X-Pipe Exhaust System to provide a more engaging exhaust experience while retaining the flexibility of adjustable sound control.
At the heart of the system is a specially engineered 2.75-inch (70 mm) quad-resonated X-pipe, designed to balance exhaust flow and sound characteristics.
With the exhaust valves closed, gases are directed through the resonated X-pipe, producing a smoother, more controlled exhaust note suitable for lower-noise driving.
When the valves are opened, exhaust gases bypass the resonated X-pipe section, creating a more direct flow path and producing a substantially louder, more aggressive exhaust sound.
This dual-mode configuration allows the driver to enjoy two distinct exhaust characteristics from one system.
Manufactured from 14–16 gauge T304L stainless steel, the exhaust uses CNC mandrel-bent tubing to maintain consistent internal pipe diameter and smooth gas flow.
The system incorporates high-quality Helical vacuum-operated exhaust valves, engineered to withstand the high temperatures and demanding operating conditions associated with turbocharged performance engines.
Available with either high-flow sports catalytic converters or race-only catalytic converter bypass pipes, the system can be configured for different performance requirements and intended applications.
The exhaust is completed with Fabspeed's deluxe quad-style exhaust tips, available in a choice of finishes to complement the Porsche 991 Turbo's rear styling.
Designed as a bolt-on replacement, the system can be installed without cutting or welding, making it a substantial exhaust upgrade for enthusiasts seeking improved sound, performance potential and premium construction.
What This Product Does:
The Fabspeed Valved Supersport X-Pipe replaces the corresponding factory exhaust components with a freer-flowing performance exhaust arrangement.
Its main functions include:
- Improves Exhaust Gas Flow: Uses a performance-oriented pipe layout to reduce unnecessary restrictions within the exhaust system.
- Provides Driver-Controlled Exhaust Sound: Allows switching between two distinct sound characteristics.
- Creates a Refined Closed-Valve Mode: Directs exhaust gases through the quad-resonated X-pipe for a smoother, more subdued exhaust note.
- Delivers an Aggressive Open-Valve Mode: Bypasses the resonated section to produce a louder, more direct exhaust sound.
- Enhances Turbocharged Flat-Six Character: Makes the distinctive exhaust note of the Porsche 3.8L twin-turbocharged engine more prominent.
- Supports Performance Optimisation: Provides an exhaust configuration designed to improve flow and potentially enhance engine response.
- Reduces Exhaust System Weight: Fabspeed lists an approximate 5 lb weight reduction compared with the corresponding factory arrangement.
- Uses High-Flow Stainless Steel Pipework: Mandrel-bent tubing helps maintain consistent exhaust flow through pipe bends.
- Provides Durable Valve Operation: Uses Helical vacuum-actuated valves designed for high-temperature service.
- Enhances Rear Styling: Includes deluxe quad-style exhaust tips.
- Supports Different Vehicle Configurations: Offers valve-control options for vehicles with or without factory Porsche Sport Exhaust.
- Maintains Bolt-On Installation: Designed to fit the corresponding Porsche 991 Turbo application without cutting or welding.
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
The Fabspeed Valved Supersport X-Pipe is primarily a performance upgrade rather than a component that must be replaced at a fixed service interval.
However, deterioration of the original exhaust system or faults within an existing valved exhaust assembly may make replacement or repair necessary.
- Hissing, ticking or blowing noises.
- Increased exhaust volume from an unexpected location.
- Soot deposits around exhaust joints.
- Exhaust fumes around the rear of the vehicle.
- Increased noise during acceleration.
- Visible rust or deterioration.
- Weak or damaged welds.
- Cracked mounting points.
- Perforated pipework.
- Exhaust sections becoming loose or insecure.
- Exhaust sound remaining unchanged when switching modes.
- One exhaust valve operating while the other remains stationary.
- A valve stuck open, causing consistently high exhaust volume.
- A valve stuck closed, preventing the louder operating mode.
- Unusual metallic rattling around the valve assemblies.
- Irregular valve movement.
Why Replacement / Upgrading Matters:
Upgrading to the Fabspeed Valved Supersport X-Pipe can improve the driving experience by combining performance-oriented exhaust flow with adjustable sound control.
- Two Exhaust Sounds in One System: Switches between a more refined resonated mode and a louder performance mode.
- Enhanced Exhaust Character: Brings out the distinctive sound of the Porsche 991 Turbo's twin-turbocharged flat-six engine.
- Improved Exhaust Flow: Uses larger performance-oriented pipework and an optimised flow path.
- Potential Performance Gains: Designed to support improved power delivery and throttle response, depending on vehicle configuration.
- High-Quality Construction: T304L stainless steel provides excellent resistance to corrosion and heat-related deterioration.
- Premium Helical Exhaust Valves: Provides a durable valve arrangement engineered for demanding operating conditions.
- CNC Mandrel-Bent Tubing: Maintains a consistent internal diameter through bends to support smooth gas flow.
- Reduced Exhaust Weight: Offers a lighter configuration than the corresponding original exhaust arrangement.
- Customisable Appearance: Deluxe quad-style tips provide a choice of finishes.
- Adaptable Control: Can be configured for vehicles equipped with factory PSE or an additional Fabspeed valve controller.
- Direct Bolt-On Design: Avoids the need for permanent cutting or welding during installation.
- Premium Performance Engineering: Developed specifically for the Porsche 991 Turbo and Turbo S platform.

9m Universal Exhaust Vacuum Valve Controller
Take greater control of a vacuum-operated sports exhaust system with the 9m Universal Exhaust Vacuum Valve Controller.
Developed by Ninemeister to enhance the functionality of exhaust valve systems, the controller allows the exhaust valves to be operated remotely using the supplied key fobs. The kit uses a vacuum control module and is designed for straightforward installation without cutting or splicing into the vehicle's factory wiring or fuses.
What Does the Exhaust Valve Controller Do?
Many sports exhaust systems use vacuum-operated valves to change the route exhaust gases take through the silencer. Opening or closing these valves alters the exhaust sound.
The 9m controller provides additional control over this system, allowing the driver to operate compatible vacuum exhaust valves using a dedicated remote key fob.
This is particularly useful for vehicles fitted with a valved sports exhaust where the owner wants convenient independent control of the exhaust valves.
Why Upgrade?
A dedicated exhaust valve controller gives the driver greater control over when the exhaust valves operate.
The 9m system is also designed to minimise installation complexity. Power is supplied through a cigarette lighter adaptor, so there is no requirement to cut or splice into the factory wiring or fuse system.
