Information
Fuel pump relay
This relay sits between the ignition switch / DME and the fuel pump electrical circuit — its role is to switch the 12 V supply to the pump when the engine is running (or ignition is on), ensuring consistent and reliable fuel delivery. Activation of this relay is essential for proper fuel-pump operation and stable fuel pressure throughout the engine’s runtime.
Fits:
Porsche 924 1976 - 1978
* Please check and match the part number of your relay in your car before ordering.
A fuel-pump relay can degrade over time due to heat, vibration and internal electrical wear. When the relay begins to fail, the fuel pump may not receive power consistently, leading to hard starting, stalling or complete no-start conditions. Replacing an aging or faulty relay ensures stable fuel delivery, protects the wiring system and maintains reliable engine performance.
Reasons to Replace:
• Fuel pump does not activate even though the engine cranks
• Intermittent fuel pump operation or unstable fuel pressure
• Relay becomes hot, buzzes or produces electrical smell
• During wiring repair, harness work or full vehicle restoration
• The relay is decades old and may fail without warning (preventative maintenance).
