The gearbox bracket forms part of the transmission mounting system. It helps support and locate the gearbox in the correct position, working together with the transmission mounts to control drivetrain movement, reduce vibration, and maintain correct alignment between the engine, gearbox, and chassis.
Functions
• Supports the gearbox / transmission mounting assembly
• Helps secure the gearbox to the chassis mounting points
• Maintains correct drivetrain alignment
• Works with gearbox mounts to reduce vibration and movement
• Helps protect surrounding drivetrain components from excess stress
• Replaces damaged, corroded, bent, or weakened original brackets
• OE Match replacement for gearbox service, repair, or restoration.
Why Replace This Part?
Gearbox brackets can become corroded, bent, cracked, damaged, or weakened over time due to road dirt, moisture, vibration, age, or previous drivetrain work. A damaged bracket can affect gearbox alignment, increase vibration, cause drivetrain movement, or place extra stress on the mounts and mounting hardware. Replacing the bracket helps restore secure gearbox support and correct drivetrain installation.
When to Replace This Part
• The original gearbox bracket is cracked, bent, rusty, or damaged
• Gearbox vibration or excessive drivetrain movement is present
• The transmission mounts are being replaced
• The gearbox has been removed or refitted
• Mounting holes, studs, or bracket surfaces are worn or distorted
• The car has had accident damage or drivetrain repair work
• The vehicle is undergoing Porsche drivetrain restoration.
Where it fits on the car
This bracket fits at the gearbox mounting area and forms part of the transmission support system. It is used with the gearbox mount assembly to secure the transmission to the vehicle chassis.

What This Product Does
The gearbox mount connects the transmission assembly to its supporting structure and uses a rubber element to absorb vibration. It also limits excessive gearbox movement, helping to maintain the intended alignment of the transmission and surrounding drivetrain components.
Functions
- Supports the gearbox and transmission assembly
- Helps isolate drivetrain vibration from the body
- Controls transmission movement during acceleration and deceleration
- Supports the alignment of associated drivetrain components
- Reduces movement that may place additional load on brackets and fixings
Technical Details
- Component type: rubber gearbox or transmission mounting
- 955 application: PR code D9J, diagram 307-00, item 3
- 957 applications: PR code D5X at item 4 and PR code D50 at item 5, diagram 307-000
- 958 applications up to model year 2014: PR codes D50, D43 and D1V at item 22; PR code D34 at item 24
- Listed applications include 3.2L V6, 3.6L petrol and 3.0L Diesel Cayenne models
Symptoms of Fault
- Clunking when taking up drive or changing load
- Increased vibration through the cabin
- Excessive movement of the gearbox or drivetrain
- Less precise shifting or changes in transmission feel
- Cracked, compressed or deteriorated rubber around the mounting
- Noise caused by contact between drivetrain and supporting components
Why Replacement Matters
An aged or damaged Porsche Cayenne transmission mount may no longer control movement or isolate vibration effectively. Replacing a worn mount can restore correct gearbox support and prevent unnecessary movement from placing additional stress on nearby brackets, fixings and driveline parts. Other mounts and supporting components should be inspected during the repair, as wear elsewhere can produce similar symptoms.
FAQs
- Can a worn mount feel like a gearbox fault?
Yes. Movement, vibration and clunking from a deteriorated mount can make an otherwise serviceable gearbox feel rough. The drivetrain should be inspected before internal transmission repairs are considered. - Will this mount fit every 955, 957 or 958 Cayenne?
No. Suitability depends on the engine, model year and transmission PR code. Cross-check part number 95537505720 and the vehicle specification. - Should related mounts be inspected?
Yes. Checking the remaining engine and transmission mounts can help identify uneven support or additional deterioration. - Does a new mount repair gear crunching?
Not normally. Gear crunching is more commonly associated with clutch, selector or internal transmission wear, although replacing a failed mount may improve general drivetrain stability.

What This Product Does
This rubber mounting forms part of the Cayenne transmission suspension assembly. It secures and supports the gearbox, maintains its intended position relative to the chassis and absorbs a proportion of the vibration and torque movement generated by the drivetrain.
Functions
- Supports the gearbox within the transmission carrier assembly
- Helps maintain drivetrain and transmission alignment
- Isolates normal gearbox vibration from the vehicle structure
- Controls excessive transmission movement during load changes
- Reduces stress transferred to adjoining brackets and mountings
Symptoms of Fault
- Clunking as drive is taken up or during changes in load
- Increased vibration transmitted through the cabin
- Excessive movement of the gearbox or transmission assembly
- Less precise shifting or a change in drivetrain feel
- Cracked, softened or visibly collapsed mounting rubber
- Noise caused by movement placing adjoining components under stress
Why Replacement Matters
An aged or damaged mounting may allow more drivetrain movement than intended, making a correctly operating gearbox feel rough or imprecise. Replacement can restore the intended support and vibration isolation while helping protect nearby carriers, brackets and driveline components. Inspect the surrounding hardware and other mountings during installation, as wear elsewhere can produce similar symptoms.
FAQs
- Can a worn mount cause gearbox noise?
It can cause clunks or vibration by allowing excessive movement, although internal gearbox wear, the transfer case and other drivetrain parts should also be checked. - Will this mount repair gear crunching?
No. Gear crunching is more commonly associated with internal transmission, clutch or selector faults, but a worn mount can affect overall drivetrain feel. - Should compatibility be checked by part number?
Yes. Compare 95537505730 with the existing component and confirm the vehicle model, year, engine and relevant PR codes. - Should other mounts be inspected?
Yes. Checking adjoining transmission and engine mountings helps identify uneven support or additional age-related deterioration.
