What This Product Does:
- Connects the heater disc valve to the vehicle's heating system.
- Allows the controlled flow of coolant or heated air through the heater circuit.
- Supports efficient cabin heating performance.
- Helps regulate interior temperature control.
- Maintains the integrity of the heating and ventilation system.
- Prevents coolant or air leakage from the heater circuit.
- Contributes to overall HVAC system efficiency and reliability.
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
- Coolant leaks within the engine bay.
- Loss of coolant without obvious external leaks.
- Reduced cabin heating performance.
- Heater producing inconsistent temperatures.
- Sweet coolant smell inside or around the vehicle.
- Visible cracking, splitting or swelling of the hose.
- Soft, brittle or deteriorated hose material.

Diagram Ref No 25
Manufactured to match the original equipment configuration, this heater supply hose connects the heater control valve to the heater circuit, carrying hot engine coolant towards the heater matrix to provide effective cabin heating.
The vehicle's heating system uses heat generated by the engine to warm the passenger compartment. As hot coolant circulates through the heater matrix, the heater blower passes air across it, transferring heat into the cabin.
The heater supply hose provides an essential connection within this system, helping maintain a continuous, leak-free coolant passage between the heater control valve and heater matrix.
Its moulded shape is designed to follow the original hose routing, allowing it to fit correctly within the available engine compartment space without unnecessary strain on the connections.
Over time, original rubber coolant hoses can deteriorate due to repeated exposure to high temperatures, coolant pressure, vibration and natural ageing. The hose material may harden, crack, soften, swell or split, potentially resulting in coolant leakage or restricted flow.
A damaged heater supply hose can cause poor cabin heating, coolant loss and reduced cooling system reliability. If substantial coolant loss is left unresolved, the engine may overheat, potentially leading to expensive mechanical damage.
Replacing a worn or deteriorated heater supply hose with the OE MATCH 94457258702/1 helps restore the original coolant connection, maintain effective heater performance and support the overall reliability of the engine cooling system.
Ideal for Porsche 944 and 968 maintenance, coolant leak repairs, heater system refurbishment and classic Porsche restoration projects.
What This Product Does:The heater supply hose carries heated engine coolant through part of the vehicle's cabin heating circuit.
Its primary functions include:
- Transfers Hot Coolant to the Heater Matrix: Provides a passage for coolant to flow from the heater control valve towards the cabin heater.
- Supports Cabin Heating: Allows engine heat to reach the heater matrix, where it can be transferred to the passenger compartment.
- Maintains Coolant Circuit Integrity: Provides a sealed connection between components of the heater circuit.
- Supports Consistent Heating Performance: Helps maintain adequate coolant circulation when cabin heating is required.
- Accommodates Temperature Changes: Its flexible construction allows for normal thermal expansion and contraction.
- Withstands Cooling System Pressure: Designed for operation within the vehicle's pressurised coolant system.
- Accommodates Engine Compartment Movement: Provides flexibility to help tolerate normal vibration and movement.
- Supports Windscreen Demisting: Helps provide the hot coolant required for effective warm-air demisting and defrosting.
- Maintains Original Hose Routing: Its application-specific shape helps preserve the factory coolant hose arrangement.
- Supports Engine Cooling System Reliability: Helps prevent coolant loss through a deteriorated hose connection.
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
Heater hoses operate under demanding conditions involving continuous contact with hot coolant, fluctuating pressure and repeated heating and cooling cycles.
Over time, these conditions can weaken the rubber and increase the likelihood of leaks or failure.
Common symptoms of a worn or failing heater supply hose include:
- Visible Coolant Leakage: Coolant may drip or seep from the hose body or its connections.
- Falling Coolant Level: The expansion tank may require frequent topping up due to coolant loss.
- Cracked Rubber Surface: Age-related deterioration may cause visible cracking along the hose.
- Hard or Brittle Hose Material: Rubber may lose flexibility and become more susceptible to splitting.
- Swollen or Bulging Hose: Internal deterioration may cause sections of the hose to expand abnormally.
- Unusually Soft or Spongy Areas: The internal reinforcement or rubber structure may have weakened.
- Split or Torn Hose: Severe deterioration can cause a rupture and rapid coolant loss.
- Coolant Residue Around Connections: Dried coolant deposits may indicate a slow leak around the hose ends.
- Sweet Coolant Smell: Escaping antifreeze can produce a distinctive sweet smell around the engine compartment.
- Dampness Around the Heater Circuit: Coolant may collect beneath the hose or around adjacent components.
- Steam from the Engine Compartment: Coolant leaking onto hot components may produce steam.
- Reduced Cabin Heating: Significant coolant loss, trapped air or restricted flow may reduce the amount of heat reaching the heater matrix.
- Fluctuating Heater Temperature: Air entering the cooling system due to leakage may cause inconsistent heater performance.
- Engine Temperature Rising Above Normal: Substantial coolant loss may reduce cooling system effectiveness.
- Hose Collapse or Internal Restriction: A deteriorated hose may become distorted or obstruct normal coolant flow.
- Damage Around Hose Clamps: Overtightened clamps or deteriorated hose ends may cause localised cracking and leakage.
Why Replacement Matters:
Replacing a deteriorated heater supply hose is important for maintaining reliable cabin heating and protecting the engine cooling system from coolant loss.
Key Benefits Of Replacement:
- Restores the Coolant Connection: Replaces damaged rubber to maintain a secure coolant passage between heater components.
- Helps Prevent Coolant Leaks: Reduces the risk of coolant escaping through cracks, splits or weakened hose walls.
- Supports Effective Cabin Heating: Maintains the coolant flow needed for normal heater matrix operation.
- Helps Prevent Engine Overheating: Reduces the risk of coolant loss that could compromise engine temperature regulation.
- Maintains Cooling System Pressure: Helps preserve a properly sealed coolant circuit.
- Improves Reliability: Replaces ageing rubber that may be vulnerable to sudden failure.
- Supports Windscreen Demisting: Helps maintain warm-air availability during cold or damp conditions.
- Reduces the Risk of Unexpected Breakdowns: Preventative replacement can address visible deterioration before a hose ruptures.
- Protects Surrounding Components: Helps prevent coolant from leaking onto nearby electrical or mechanical parts.
- Maintains Original Hose Routing: Application-specific construction helps avoid incorrect hose bends or unnecessary stress.
- Supports Long-Term Cooling System Health: Provides a sound connection within the heating and cooling circuit.
- Ideal for Preventative Maintenance: Particularly useful when servicing other ageing cooling system hoses.
- Suitable for Classic Porsche Restoration: Helps maintain the original heater hose arrangement.
- Cost-Effective Repair: Replacing a worn hose can help avoid more extensive repairs resulting from coolant loss and overheating.
Although the heater supply hose is a relatively simple component, it plays an important role in the vehicle's cooling system.
A small leak may initially appear harmless but can gradually reduce the coolant level. As coolant escapes, air may enter the system, affecting heater performance and potentially reducing the engine's ability to maintain its correct operating temperature.
A severely deteriorated hose can also rupture without warning, leading to rapid coolant loss and possible overheating.
Because the Porsche 944 and 968 rely on a properly functioning liquid cooling system, maintaining the condition of the heater hoses is especially important as these vehicles age.
Replacing a cracked, softened, swollen or leaking hose with the OE MATCH 94457258702/1 helps restore cooling system integrity and supports dependable heating and engine operation.
