The induction system relies on sealed connections to ensure that all incoming air is accurately measured before entering the engine. A deteriorated or damaged gasket can allow unmetered air to bypass the system, leading to vacuum leaks, poor idle quality, reduced engine performance and inconsistent fuel mixture.
Replacing the gasket whenever the intake system or throttle body is removed is recommended to maintain optimum engine performance and prevent air leaks that can affect drivability.
Whether you're carrying out a routine service, rebuilding an engine or restoring a classic air-cooled Porsche, this OE Match gasket provides a reliable sealing solution for long-lasting performance.
What Does the Air Intake Pipe to Throttle Body Gasket Do?
This gasket forms an airtight seal between the air intake pipe and the throttle body.
Its primary functions include:
- Preventing unmetered air from entering the intake system.
- Maintaining correct intake system sealing.
- Supporting accurate air and fuel mixture.
- Helping ensure stable idle quality.
- Promoting smooth engine performance.
- Reducing the risk of vacuum leaks.
A properly sealing intake gasket is essential for efficient combustion and reliable engine operation.
Why Replace the Air Intake Pipe to Throttle Body Gasket?
Intake gaskets are continually exposed to engine heat, vibration and age, which can eventually cause them to harden, compress or deteriorate.
Common reasons for replacement include:
- Vacuum leaks.
- Hardened or brittle gasket material.
- Air leaks after throttle body removal.
- Engine rebuilds.
- Intake system servicing.
- Poor idle quality.
- Reduced engine performance.
- Preventative maintenance.
Replacing the gasket ensures a proper seal is restored and helps avoid future intake air leaks.
Symptoms of a Failing Intake Gasket
A worn or leaking throttle body gasket may result in:
- Rough or unstable idle.
- High or fluctuating idle speed.
- Hesitation during acceleration.
- Lean running conditions.
- Whistling or hissing noises from the intake.
- Reduced engine efficiency.
- Difficult engine tuning.
- Increased fuel consumption.
Replacing the gasket is a simple but important step in maintaining the performance of your Porsche's induction system.
Benefits
- Restores proper intake system sealing.
- Helps maintain stable idle quality.
- Improves engine efficiency.
- Reduces the risk of unmetered air entering the engine.
- Straightforward installation.
- Suitable for restoration and routine maintenance.
Why Choose OE Match Engine Gaskets?
OE Match engine gaskets are manufactured to provide reliable sealing performance, precise fitment and long service life. Designed specifically for classic Porsche applications, they help maintain the correct operation of the induction system while supporting smooth engine performance and dependable reliability. OE Match components are trusted by enthusiasts and professional workshops undertaking everything from routine servicing to complete engine restorations.

Flat intake manifold gasket it used between the intake manifold runners and the cylinder head on Porsche flat-six engines. Each gasket seals one intake port pair; a complete engine typically uses six of them.
Sold each, typically 6 required per car.

This gasket provides a gas-tight seal at the intake manifold interface so that all air entering the engine passes through the intended metered path (CIS / fuel injection system).
By preventing air leaks at the manifold flange, it:
• Maintains correct mixture and idle quality
• Supports smooth throttle response and drivability
• Helps avoid lean conditions that can lead to higher combustion temperatures.
Over time, intake manifold gaskets can harden, shrink or crack due to heat cycles, fuel vapour and age. When they fail:
• The engine may draw in unmetered air, causing rough idle, poor cold running or lean mixture.
• You can experience hesitation, popping, or flat spots under acceleration.
• Vacuum leaks can make tuning and diagnostics difficult and may increase fuel consumption.
Replacing old gaskets with fresh restores correct sealing, stabilises idle and mixture, and helps the engine run as intended.
When to replace
Consider replacing the inlet manifold gaskets if:
• You’re rebuilding or refreshing the top end of the engine.
• There are suspected vacuum leaks around the intake manifold.
• The engine has rough idle, hunting, or lean codes/symptoms not traced to other components.
• The original gaskets are visibly cracked, brittle, or oil/fuel soaked.
• You are converting, upgrading or servicing the CIS / intake system on a classic 911 or 930.
