Diagram Ref No 13
The rear driveshaft flange provides the mechanical connection between the gearbox differential output and the rear driveshaft, allowing engine torque to be transferred to the driven wheels.
Manufactured as an aftermarket replacement alternative to the original Porsche component, the OE MATCH flange is intended to restore the correct mechanical connection and mounting arrangement where the corresponding OE specification is required.
The Porsche 930 Turbo drivetrain operates under considerable mechanical loading, particularly during acceleration and changes in engine torque. The driveshaft flange must maintain secure engagement with the differential output while providing a stable mounting interface for the inner constant velocity (CV) joint.
When correctly installed, the flange supports reliable transmission of rotational force from the differential to the driveshaft, maintaining the intended relationship between the gearbox output and rear axle assembly.
Over time, original driveshaft flanges may deteriorate due to repeated torque loading, corrosion, mechanical wear, loose fastening hardware or incorrect installation.
Damage to the flange splines, mounting threads or mating surfaces can compromise its connection to the driveshaft. This may lead to excessive drivetrain movement, vibration, knocking noises or insecure CV joint attachment.
Wear around the differential output sealing surface may also contribute to gearbox oil leakage.
Replacing a damaged or excessively worn driveshaft flange with a correctly specified OE MATCH component helps restore secure driveshaft mounting, maintain dependable torque transmission and support the long-term reliability of the drivetrain.
Ideal for gearbox rebuilding, differential repairs, driveshaft servicing and classic Porsche restoration projects, this replacement flange is intended for applications matching Porsche reference 93033223200.
What This Product Does:
The rear driveshaft flange is a mechanical drivetrain component positioned at the output of the gearbox differential.
Its primary function is to connect the differential output to the inner CV joint of the rear driveshaft.
When the engine produces torque, power passes through the clutch and gearbox into the differential. The differential distributes this rotational force to the rear wheels through its output connections.
The driveshaft flange provides the mounting and engagement arrangement necessary for this transfer of power.
Its main functions include:
- Transmitting engine torque: Transfers rotational movement from the gearbox differential to the rear driveshaft.
- Connecting the inner CV joint: Provides the mounting interface for the driveshaft's inner constant velocity joint.
- Supporting rear-wheel drive: Helps transfer engine power to the driven wheels.
- Maintaining drivetrain alignment: Supports the correct position of the driveshaft relative to the gearbox output.
- Providing secure mechanical attachment: Allows the CV joint to be fastened using the specified mounting hardware.
- Supporting smooth power delivery: Maintains a consistent mechanical connection under acceleration and deceleration.
- Withstanding rotational loading: Operates under the repeated torsional forces generated during driving.
- Maintaining differential output engagement: Works with the transmission output arrangement to transfer torque.
- Supporting gearbox sealing: Provides a rotating surface associated with the relevant differential output oil seal.
- Preserving original drivetrain geometry: Maintains the intended flange arrangement when correctly matched to the gearbox specification.
The driveshaft flange is not the complete driveshaft, CV joint, differential or rear wheel hub. It forms the connection between the differential output and the driveshaft.
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
Rear driveshaft flanges are designed to withstand significant mechanical loads. However, damage can develop through repeated torque changes, corrosion, excessive wear or incorrect installation.
Common symptoms of a worn or damaged driveshaft flange include:
- Clunking during acceleration: Excessive movement at the flange or CV joint connection may produce knocking noises when torque is applied.
- Clunking during deceleration: Wear may become noticeable when drivetrain loading changes during engine braking.
- Drivetrain vibration: A distorted or incorrectly centred flange may contribute to vibration during driving.
- Excessive rotational play: Worn spline engagement or retaining components may allow unwanted movement.
- Damaged splines: Excessive wear or mechanical damage may compromise the flange's connection to the differential output.
- Loose CV joint mounting: Damaged mounting points or incorrectly tightened fasteners may allow the driveshaft connection to move.
- Stripped mounting threads: Damaged bolt threads may prevent the CV joint from being secured correctly.
- Cracked or fractured flange: Severe mechanical loading or previous damage may weaken the component.
- Corroded mounting surfaces: Corrosion may interfere with correct CV joint seating.
- Distorted flange face: Mechanical deformation may prevent the driveshaft joint from sitting evenly against the flange.
- Gearbox oil leakage: Wear around the output sealing surface may contribute to lubricant escaping from the transmission.
- Repeated loosening of CV joint bolts: Damaged mating surfaces, incorrect hardware or improper fastening may cause recurrent loosening.
- Visible fretting marks: Movement between contacting components may produce abnormal surface wear.
- Damaged retaining components: Worn or incorrectly installed retaining hardware may affect flange positioning.
- Metallic drivetrain noises: Excessive movement at the output connection may produce knocking or rattling.
- Loss of drive: Severe failure of the flange or its mounting connection may interrupt torque transfer.
Why Replacement Matters:
Replacing a defective driveshaft flange is important for maintaining the secure transmission of engine torque from the gearbox to the rear wheels.
A damaged flange can allow movement at the differential output, placing additional stress on the driveshaft, inner CV joint and mounting hardware.
If the flange's spline engagement or mounting points become severely worn, the connection may no longer transmit torque reliably.
Continued operation with a defective flange can accelerate wear in surrounding drivetrain components and may eventually lead to a loss of drive.
Installing a correctly matched OE MATCH Rear Driveshaft Flange helps to:
- Restore reliable torque transmission: Reinstate the intended connection between the differential and driveshaft.
- Maintain secure CV joint attachment: Replace damaged mounting surfaces and fastening points.
- Reduce drivetrain play: Address excessive movement caused by a confirmed worn flange.
- Improve drivetrain stability: Restore correct flange positioning where deformation or wear has occurred.
- Reduce knocking and vibration: Help eliminate symptoms caused by defective flange engagement.
- Protect the inner CV joint: Reduce additional stress associated with insecure or misaligned mounting.
- Prevent further mounting damage: Replace worn threads and mating surfaces before deterioration becomes more extensive.
- Support gearbox oil sealing: Restore the appropriate flange sealing surface where damage contributes to leakage.
- Maintain differential output engagement: Preserve the intended mechanical connection with the transmission.
- Support transmission refurbishment: Provide replacement components during gearbox or differential rebuilding.
- Preserve original drivetrain functionality: Maintain the correct mechanical arrangement for the applicable vehicle.
- Support classic Porsche restoration: Replace damaged or worn transmission components.
- Provide an OE MATCH alternative: Offer a replacement option where the corresponding Genuine Porsche component is not selected.
Replacement is particularly recommended when inspection confirms cracked material, damaged splines, excessive wear, distorted mounting surfaces or compromised fastening points.
When replacing the flange, the inner CV joint, driveshaft, differential output seal and retaining hardware should also be examined.

Diagram Ref No 16
What This Product Does
The snap ring provides axial retention within the driveshaft flange assembly. Its role is to locate the retained component in its intended position; it does not perform the sealing function of the adjacent shaft oil seal.
Functions
- Retains the driveshaft flange component against axial movement.
- Provides the specified retaining hardware for applicable gearbox repairs.
Technical Details
- Manufacturer: Porsche; part number: 9P1311152.
- Component: driveshaft flange snap ring, also described as a retaining ring or circlip.
- Specified dimensions: D36x2,6 (D36x2.6mm).
- Each supplied diagram records an assembly requirement of two rings; this does not indicate pack quantity.
Symptoms of Fault
Flange looseness, clunking as drive is taken up, vibration under load or oil seepage around the flange warrant inspection of the complete assembly. These symptoms do not establish that the snap ring is faulty: seals, splines, joints and mountings may also require assessment.
Why Replacement Matters
A damaged or distorted retaining ring should not be relied upon to locate the flange correctly. During flange or gearbox work, assess the ring, its seating groove and adjacent components, then follow the applicable Porsche installation procedure. Replacing this ring alone will not rectify a worn flange, damaged groove or leaking oil seal.
FAQs
Is this the complete driveshaft flange?
No. Part 9P1311152 identifies the snap ring only.
Is it restricted to PDK transmissions?
The product is specified for PDK flange applications, but the supplied diagrams also list selected manual gearboxes. Match the part number to the exact transmission before fitting.
Should the flange seal also be checked?
Yes. Inspect the surrounding seal and flange surfaces during the repair, particularly where oil leakage is present.

What This Product Does
This retaining ring locates the flange assembly axially, limiting movement along the shaft. It is retaining hardware rather than an oil seal, and should not be confused with the complete flange.
Functions
- Restrains axial displacement of the retained flange component.
- Supplies replacement retaining hardware during applicable transmission repairs.
Technical Details
- Brand: OE Match; Porsche reference: 9P1311152.
- Snap ring specification: D36x2,6, also recorded as D36x2.6mm.
- Assembly quantity: two rings in each supplied diagram; individual sale quantity is one.
Symptoms of Fault
Movement at the flange, take-up knocks, load-related vibration or nearby lubricant leakage justify an assembly inspection, not an automatic ring diagnosis. Check joints, mounts, flange splines and seals before attributing these symptoms to retaining hardware.
Why Replacement Matters
Renew a retaining ring if inspection reveals deformation or damage that prevents correct seating. Examine its groove and neighbouring components during dismantling, and use the installation method specified for the transmission. A replacement ring cannot compensate for groove damage, flange wear or a defective seal.
FAQs
- Does the flange come with this ring?
No. The component identified by 9P1311152 is the retaining ring, not a flange assembly. - Can it fit a manual gearbox?
Selected manual applications appear in the supplied diagrams alongside PDK applications. Verify the transmission code and reference before installation. - How many should I order?
Sold each - 2 required per car. Confirm how many are needed for the planned repair. - Will fitting it stop an oil leak?
The ring provides retention, not sealing. Investigate the leak source and examine the adjacent oil seal and flange surfaces.

Diagram Ref No 19
This original Porsche component forms part of the transmission output assembly, providing the connection through which rotational power is transferred from the gearbox to the driveshaft and ultimately the driven wheels.
Designed for selected manual and PDK transmissions, it is a direct replacement for a damaged or worn original flange.
What Does It Do?
The driveshaft flange connects the gearbox output to the driveshaft, allowing engine power to be transmitted to the wheels.
As the gearbox delivers rotational force, the flange provides a secure mechanical connection while maintaining the correct positioning of the driveshaft coupling.
It is an essential part of the drivetrain, particularly when transferring power during acceleration and changes in engine load.
Why Is It Important?
The driveshaft flange must withstand repeated changes in torque while maintaining a secure connection between the gearbox and driveshaft.
A worn or damaged flange can contribute to:
- Clunking noises when accelerating or changing load
- Excessive drivetrain vibration
- Movement or looseness at the driveshaft connection
- Damage to associated coupling components
- Increased wear around the gearbox output assembly
These symptoms can also result from worn driveshaft joints, mountings or other transmission components and should be properly diagnosed.
Why Do Driveshaft Flanges Fail?
Driveshaft flanges are designed for long service life but may deteriorate through wear, excessive mechanical loads or damage during repairs.
Possible causes include:
- Wear around the driveshaft mounting points
- Damage to the flange splines or mating surfaces
- Repeated shock loading through the drivetrain
- Incorrect installation or damaged retaining hardware
- Corrosion or physical damage
When Should It Be Replaced?
Replacement is recommended if the flange shows damaged splines, cracks, distorted mounting points or excessive wear.
It should also be inspected when investigating drivetrain vibration, replacing driveshaft components or repairing the gearbox output assembly.
Installation Notes
Inspect the driveshaft coupling, gearbox output shaft, retaining components and surrounding seals before fitting.
Ensure the correct short flange is selected for the transmission. Use the specified retaining hardware and follow Porsche's tightening procedures.
Check the gearbox output shaft seal for leakage and replace any damaged associated components during reassembly.

Diagram Ref No 19
Located at the transmission output, this replacement flange provides the mounting interface for the driveshaft, allowing power to pass from the gearbox to the rear wheels.
The OE Match version offers a cost-effective aftermarket solution for drivetrain repairs, helping restore a secure connection without the expense of a Genuine Porsche replacement.
What Does It Do?
The short driveshaft flange is fitted to the gearbox output and provides the connection point for the driveshaft assembly.
When engine power passes through the transmission and differential, the flange transfers rotational force to the driveshaft, which turns the driven wheel.
Its mounting surfaces and splined connection must remain in good condition to ensure smooth and consistent power delivery.
Why Is It Important?
The driveshaft flange is subjected to changing loads whenever the vehicle accelerates, decelerates or changes gear.
A secure, correctly fitted flange helps maintain drivetrain alignment and prevents excessive movement at the driveshaft connection.
A worn or damaged flange may contribute to:
- Knocking or clunking when taking up drive
- Vibration under acceleration
- Excessive play at the driveshaft mounting
- Looseness around the gearbox output connection
- Premature wear of adjoining drivetrain components
Similar symptoms can result from driveshaft joints, gearbox mountings or differential wear, so proper inspection is recommended.
Why Do Driveshaft Flanges Fail?
These components are designed to withstand considerable torque, but damage can develop through prolonged mechanical loading or incorrect installation.
Possible causes include:
- Wear to the internal splines
- Damage to driveshaft bolt holes or mounting faces
- Repeated shock loads from aggressive driving
- Loose or incorrectly tightened fasteners
- Corrosion or damage during gearbox repairs
When Should It Be Replaced?
Replace the driveshaft flange if inspection reveals excessive spline wear, cracking, damaged mounting points or distortion.
It may also require replacement following a driveshaft failure or when the flange cannot be securely refitted during transmission repairs.
Any unusual drivetrain noise or vibration should be investigated before ordering replacement components.
Why Choose OE Match?
OE Match provides aftermarket replacement parts designed for Porsche maintenance and repair applications.
This short driveshaft flange is offered as an alternative to the original Porsche component, allowing owners and workshops to replace worn transmission hardware while retaining the intended gearbox and driveshaft connection arrangement.
Installation Notes
Confirm that the replacement is the correct short flange for the vehicle's transmission.
Inspect the gearbox output splines, shaft seal, retaining ring and driveshaft mounting hardware before installation.
Replace damaged fasteners or seals where necessary and follow Porsche's specified assembly and tightening procedures.
Certain gearbox applications require specific associated hardware, so refer to the appropriate Porsche parts diagram before fitting.
OE Match Porsche Gearbox Driveshaft Flanges
The driveshaft flange is a key component within the Porsche 911 transmission output assembly, connecting the gearbox differential to the driveshaft and transferring power to the driven wheels.
The OE Match short driveshaft flange, provides an aftermarket replacement for selected Porsche 997.2, 991.1 and 991.2 manual and PDK gearboxes. It is suitable for repairs involving worn splines, damaged driveshaft mounting points or defective transmission output connections.
