- These hoses/pipes are part of the charge-air system (after the turbocharger) and connect components like the turbo(s) → intercooler(s) → intake manifold(s). They carry compressed air at elevated pressure and temperature.
- The purpose: When the turbo compresses intake air, it gets hot; after the intercooler it is cooled, then routed via these hoses to the engine. Secure, leak-free hoses ensure the engine receives correct volume and pressure of air.
- If the hose is compromised (e.g., leak, crack, split), then boost pressure drops, the engine may lose power, run richer/leaner, trigger fault codes, and the car’s performance degrades.
Symptoms & Signs You Might Need Replacement:
- Loss of boost / reduced power: If you’re not getting full boost, or turbo seems slower to build, a leak in this hose is a common fault.
