Repair or prevent spring plate mounts from cracking.
Repair or prevent spring plate mounts from cracking
Spring Plate Mount Reinforcement Panels will help prevent or repair the common problem of cracked spring plate cover mounts resulting from worn, deformed, or stuck bushings in the cover.
Elephant Racing Rear Spring Plate Mount Reinforcement Panels are precision laser-cut and formed panels from 18 gauge steel. These panels distribute the torsion bar and spring plate loads into the torsion tube housing and multi-layer sheet metal just beyond the original mounting boss locations.
Excess heat during the welding process will tend to distort the sheet metal moving the mounting studs out of alignment. The included Mounting Stud Alignment Panel will help maintain their original spacing allowing for much easier reassembly.
At this time, you may also be interested in replacing your bushings or upgrade to Elephant Racing's PolyBronze spring plate bushings.
Please note: Welding is required to install properly

Supplied in primer for custom paint finishing, these panels form part of the exterior rear bodywork and are essential for restoring or maintaining the wide-body Turbo-Look styling, ensuring both factory-correct fitment and lasting durability.
Fits:
Porsche 911 1984 - 1989 WIDEBODY
Porsche 930 1984 - 1989 WIDEBODY

These rear body cover panels, also known as strut-plate or outer rear panels, are located around the rear suspension and inside the wheel arch area. They not only enhance the car’s appearance but also play a protective role by shielding wiring, suspension, and other components from debris and moisture. In addition, they support aerodynamics and contribute to the overall structure and finish of the Porsche 911.
You may need to replace these covers if:
• The original panels are damaged, corroded, dented or warped.
• The car is being restored or you’re doing a cosmetic overhaul, especially if adding or already have the Turbo-look styling.
• Paint damage or rust around edges making repair difficult or expensive.
• When replacing, ensure fitment side (left vs right), correct part code (GRV), and check they match your car’s configuration (turbo look vs standard).

Manufactured from high-strength automotive-grade steel with a durable corrosion-resistant finish, the mounting stand is precision-engineered to withstand the substantial loads encountered during towing, recovery and workshop manoeuvring. Designed as a direct screw-on installation, it mounts using the original fixing points, eliminating the need for welding while providing a secure and reliable attachment for the tow hook. It is the ideal replacement for corroded, damaged or missing original mounting stands.
What This Product Does:
- Provides a secure mounting point for the rear tow hook.
- Restores the original towing and recovery attachment location.
- Supports safe vehicle recovery operations.
- Maintains correct tow hook positioning and alignment.
- Offers a direct screw-on OE-style installation.
- Reinforces the tow hook mounting area.
- Replaces damaged or corroded tow hook mounting stands.
- Forms an essential part of the vehicle's recovery system.
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
- Heavy corrosion around the tow hook mounting area.
- Cracked or weakened mounting bracket.
- Bent or distorted tow hook support.
- Loose or insecure tow hook installation.
- Visible accident or impact damage.
- Poor tow hook alignment.
- Difficulty fitting or securing the tow hook.
- Excessive movement during towing or recovery.
- Unsafe recovery attachment point.
- MOT or vehicle inspection concerns where structural damage is present.
Why Replacement Matters:
- The tow hook mounting stand is continually exposed to moisture, road salt, dirt and debris while also being subjected to significant loads during towing and vehicle recovery. Over time, corrosion, impact damage or fatigue can weaken the mounting stand, reducing its ability to safely support the tow hook.
- A damaged or insecure mounting stand can compromise the effectiveness of the recovery point, increasing the risk of failure during towing or recovery operations. This may create a serious safety hazard and potentially cause damage to both the vehicle and recovery equipment.
- Replacing a worn or damaged tow hook mounting stand restores the strength and reliability of the recovery mounting point while ensuring the tow hook remains securely attached. The OE Match Screw-On Type replacement provides factory-style fitment, high-strength steel construction and long-lasting corrosion resistance, making it the ideal solution for Porsche restoration, repair and preventative maintenance.

- Provides a secure mounting point for the rear tow hook.
- Restores the original towing and recovery attachment location.
- Supports safe vehicle recovery operations.
- Reinforces the rear chassis mounting area.
- Maintains correct tow hook alignment.
- Provides a permanent weld-on OE-style installation.

- Poor tow hook alignment.
- Difficulty fitting or securing the tow hook.
- Structural weakness around the rear chassis.
- Unsafe recovery attachment point.
- MOT or vehicle inspection concerns where structural corrosion is present.
Why Replacement Matters:
- The tow hook mounting stand is subjected to continual exposure to moisture, road salt, dirt and debris, while also absorbing extremely high loads during towing and vehicle recovery. Over time, corrosion, fatigue or accident damage can weaken the mounting structure, compromising the safety and reliability of the recovery point.
- A damaged mounting stand may fail during recovery, creating a serious safety risk for both the vehicle and recovery personnel. Structural corrosion around the mounting area can also reduce chassis strength and prevent the tow hook from being securely installed.
- Replacing a worn or damaged tow hook mounting stand restores the structural integrity of the recovery mounting point and ensures safe towing and recovery operations. The OE Match Weld-On Design replacement provides factory-style fitment, high-strength steel construction and long-lasting durability, making it the ideal solution for Porsche restoration, chassis repair and preventative maintenance.
