DesignTek Performance Parts for Porsche
DESIGNTEK — PERFORMANCE ENGINEERED
Porsche performance upgrades for road, fast road and track. Explore DesignTek exhaust, suspension, braking, induction, wheel fitment, chassis and driver-focused upgrades for classic and modern Porsche models.
Better sound. Better stance. Better response. Better control.
The DesignTek story
DesignTek is Design911’s Porsche-focused performance brand, created for drivers who want to get more from their car. Its products are selected and developed to enhance the driving experience, whether through a sharper exhaust note, shorter gearshift, more controlled suspension or a purposeful change in stance. With around 500 products, the range has grown to cover straightforward fast-road upgrades alongside more focused track and motorsport components for classic and modern Porsche models.
Why choose DesignTek for your Porsche
DesignTek occupies the quality aftermarket and performance-upgrade tier, providing Porsche-specific alternatives when an owner or workshop wants to go beyond a standard replacement component. The range supports different objectives, from restoring clean airflow and improving driver feel to developing a more focused road, track or competition car. DesignTek is not about modifying a Porsche simply for the sake of it; it is about choosing considered upgrades for the way the car will be driven. Design911 specialists can help customers compare applications, specifications and related components before selecting an upgrade.
- Porsche-focused applications rather than a predominantly universal range
- Exhaust, suspension, braking, induction, chassis, wheel-fitment and driver upgrades
- Coverage extending from classic air-cooled 911 models to modern Porsche applications
- Options for road, fast-road, track and competition use
- Direct-fit and adjustable products where specified for the application
- An accessible route from standard replacement parts to more specialised performance equipment
DesignTek performance ranges
The Design911 DesignTek range covers the principal areas used to change how a Porsche sounds, sits, responds and feels. Always confirm the listed model, year, position, OE reference, connector type and included fittings before ordering.
Performance Exhaust Exhaust is at the heart of the DesignTek range, with individual components and complete performance systems for classic and modern Porsche models.
- Valvetronic switchable systems, sports silencers, rear boxes, manifolds, headers, downpipes, sports catalytic converters and catalyst-bypass or decat pipes
- Classic 911 heat exchangers, stainless-steel systems and carbon-fibre or performance exhaust tips
- Selected listings specify SUS304 or T304 stainless steel, high-flow 200-CPSI or 300-CPSI catalysts, switchable valves and carbon-fibre tailpipes
- Options address exhaust character, flow, appearance and complete system upgrades; catalyst-bypass products are intended for appropriate track-focused application.
Performance Suspension DesignTek suspension products are intended to strengthen the connection between the driver, chassis and road, with choices spanning road use to competition.
- DesignTek Performance Springs, lowering spring kits, adjustable ride-height suspension and D220 coilover systems
- Selected D220 applications include adjustable damping, while the specialist Asphalt Rally range provides greater adjustment for competition use
- Road-focused springs provide a lower stance and increased control where specified
- Inspect worn mounts, bushes and adjacent components, and complete the required alignment and torque procedures after installation
Performance Braking DesignTek braking products support Porsche builds requiring replacement components or a more substantial braking upgrade.
- Carbon-ceramic replacement brake discs and compatible brake pads for specified Porsche applications originally equipped with ceramic systems
- Performance brake components, GT-style packages, Big Red kits and larger upgrades for selected classic and modern Porsche platforms
- Check disc size, caliper type, wheel clearance and the complete application before selecting an upgrade
Performance Airflow & Induction DesignTek airflow products range from direct-replacement filters to complete intake systems and supporting components.
- Cold-air induction kits, high-flow intake systems, intake hoses, selected plenums and associated airflow upgrades
- Dedicated induction products are offered for selected Boxster and Cayman applications, alongside systems for other Porsche generations
- Maintain proper sealing, sensor positioning and sensible intake temperatures to avoid unmetered air, poor idle, warning lights, heat soak or inconsistent response
- Check mounting security and routing after installation to minimise rattles, hot-air ingestion and water exposure
Performance Air Filters DesignTek offers replacement and performance air filters for routine servicing, fast-road use and wider tuning packages.
- Applications include classic 911, 996, 997, 991 and 992 models, with further coverage across the Porsche range
- Selected filters use washable, reusable cotton-gauze media designed to balance filtration with increased airflow
- Clean the airbox and make sure the filter seal is seated evenly; a poor seal can allow dust and debris into the intake
- Replace filters more frequently in dusty or harsh conditions and avoid over-oiling reusable filters where airflow sensors are fitted
Wheel Fitment & Stance DesignTek wheel-fitment products allow owners to refine wheel position and stance, particularly alongside lowering springs or other suspension changes.
- Hub-centric wheel spacers, spacer kits, Black Edition spacers, wheel bolts, extended bolts and fitting hardware
- Selected hub-centric spacers use anodised 6061-T6 aluminium construction
- Confirm spacer thickness, wheel and tyre clearance, bolt or stud length and the specified tightening procedure
Chassis & Handling Chassis reinforcement can complement upgraded suspension, tyres and brakes by creating a more focused connection between the car and driver.
- Front and rear strut braces in selected alloy and carbon-fibre designs
- Applications include classic 911, 964, 993, 996, 997, Boxster and Cayman models
- Supporting chassis and suspension upgrades should be chosen as part of a balanced package for the intended road or track use
Driver & Track Driver-focused products change the points of interaction used every time the Porsche is driven.
- Short-shift kits, performance gearshift components, alloy pedal and footrest kits, motorsport harnesses and selected competition equipment
- Short-throw shifters are offered for selected 986, 987, 996 and 997 applications
- The range includes a six-point FIA-approved race and rally harness option
- Confirm installation requirements and compatibility with seats, mounting points and other safety equipment
Engine Tuning DesignTek engine-tuning components support improved drivability, throttle response and power delivery, or complement compatible intake, exhaust and airflow changes.
- Resolve mechanical faults before tuning rather than masking hesitation, flat spots, rough running, warning lights or inconsistent boost with new hardware or calibration
- Check compression, fuel delivery, sensor data, oil and coolant temperatures, and boost or vacuum leaks before tuning work
- Review supporting hardware and use a calibration appropriate to the complete engine specification
Performance Service Parts DesignTek service products support scheduled maintenance and can combine routine replacement work with selected performance-filter options.
- Use the correct specifications for filters, plugs, fluids, belts and related service components, and keep a clear replacement record
- Shorten service intervals where a Porsche is regularly used for short journeys, in harsh conditions or under sustained hard use
- Investigate leaks, knocks, worn mounts, poor ride control, restricted intake noise, intermittent operation, reduced fuel economy and warning lights rather than replacing unrelated parts
- Inspect adjacent components and confirm whether seals, fittings and hardware are included to reduce repeat labour
Explore the DesignTek range
Choose how you want your Porsche to feel: more sound, a lower and more purposeful stance, sharper handling, greater confidence under braking, cleaner airflow or a more involving connection between driver and car. Browse the full DesignTek range at Design911, select your Porsche model and compare compatible products with support from people who know these cars. What This Product Does
This is modification work on a supplied pair, rather than an outright turbocharger purchase. The Stage 1 specification involves changes to compressor wheels, matching housing profiles, turbine wheels and sealing components.
Functions
- Applies MD435 & MD436 hybrid specifications to the supplied units.
- Adapts compressor covers for the revised wheel profiles.
- Modifies both turbochargers for paired installation.
Technical Details
- Stage 1 hybrid references: MD435 & MD436.
- Modified high-flow compressor wheels and correspondingly reprofiled compressor covers.
- Modified, lightened exhaust turbine wheels.
- Motorsport-specification blueprinting and twin piston-ring sealing.
- Replacement references listed: 5316-970-6736 & 5316-970-6735.
- Listed engine-output estimate: 600-650 bhp, subject to supporting modifications and suitable engine-management calibration.
These Hybrid Turbos must be fitted as a pair.
The output estimate is not a promise of results from modification alone. The complete engine configuration and its calibration determine the outcome.
Symptoms of Fault
Investigate blue exhaust smoke, unusual whining, rising oil consumption, slow boost build-up or erratic boost delivery before proceeding. Similar behaviour can arise from leaking hoses, restricted lubrication or boost-control faults, so symptoms alone do not establish turbocharger failure.
Why Replacement Matters
An upgrade is not a remedy for an unresolved mechanical problem. Have the existing units assessed and inspect their oil supply, return lines, intake connections and control hardware. Any underlying fault should be corrected, with calibration matched to the finished engine specification.
FAQs
- Does the service provide a new turbocharger pair?
No. The work is carried out on units you provide, whether existing or separately purchased. - Is modification included when buying new turbochargers?
No. New-unit purchase and upgrade work are separate arrangements. - Is the stated output assured?
No. The 600-650 bhp figure is an estimate dependent on the engine configuration, supporting hardware and calibration.

DesignTek Stage 2 twin turbo upgrade service for the Porsche 993 911 GT2, using the MD427 & MD428 hybrid specification. This is modification work on turbochargers you supply, not an outright pair of replacement turbos.
How the Service Works
Send your existing turbochargers for upgrading. Alternatively, purchase new turbochargers separately and arrange for those units to undergo the modification service.
Buying new turbochargers does not include the upgrade work. The turbocharger purchase and modification service must be arranged separately.

Installation Considerations
The hybrid units require installation as a pair. Engine-management settings and any supporting modifications must be appropriate to the complete engine specification; this service should not be treated as a remedy for an undiagnosed mechanical fault.
FAQs
Does this include two turbochargers?
No. You provide the units that will be modified.
Can newly purchased turbochargers be used?
Yes. Purchase the donor units separately, then arrange their upgrade work as a separate service.
Is modification included when buying new units?
No. Purchasing turbochargers alone does not include this Stage 1 upgrade service.

What This Product Does
This is a modification service applied to turbochargers supplied by the customer. The specified conversion is MD422 & MD423; it is neither an outright turbocharger pair nor an engine overhaul kit.
Functions
- Converts submitted turbochargers to Stage 1 hybrid specification.
- Accepts existing units or independently purchased new turbochargers, subject to compatibility checks.
Technical Details
- Service specification: Stage 1 hybrid conversion, MD422 & MD423.
- Historical designations MD435 & MD436 are retained for identification only and do not specify this conversion.
- Recorded turbocharger references: 5316-970-6736, 5316-970-6735 and 5316-988-6736.
- Recorded engine code: M64/60.
- Internal assembly information identifies turbocharger 99312301452, note /R.
- Historical output designation: 550-600 bhp. No verified output is established for this GT2 service.
These Hybrid Turbos must be fitted as a pair.
* Please Note: Our hybrid turbochargers require exact engine management settings and/or supporting modifications to achieve these horsepower figures.
The retained horsepower note does not establish an output guarantee for this conversion.
Symptoms of Fault
Investigate unusual whining, exhaust smoke, increased oil consumption, delayed boost delivery or oil leakage before submitting units. These symptoms alone do not establish that turbocharger modification is appropriate.
Why Replacement Matters
An upgrade cannot correct an unresolved mechanical defect. Assess engine condition, oil supply, boost pipework and seals first, and review the engine-management requirements alongside any supporting modifications.
FAQs
Are complete turbochargers included?
No. You supply the units that undergo conversion.
Can newly purchased units be submitted?
Yes, subject to compatibility. Obtain them independently and arrange modification separately.
Which specification is requested?
MD422 & MD423. The historical MD435 & MD436 designations do not define this service.
Before ordering, confirm suitability against your vehicle's model, production year and engine specification.
